Texas Water Development Board approves $9.5 million to the San Antonio River Authority (Bexar County) for a new wastewater treatment plant

AUSTIN – (August 17, 2017) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $9.5 million from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the San Antonio River Authority (Bexar County). The Authority will be able to finance design and construction costs associated with a new wastewater treatment plant.
The Authority could save approximately $994,000 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.
The new wastewater treatment plant will be able to treat 0.250 million gallons per day. In addition, the Authority will construct pipeline for residential areas in the southeastern section of the service area that are not currently serviced by the Authority.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
