Texas Water Development Board announces the 2017 Texas Rain Catcher Award recipients

AUSTIN – (March 21, 2018) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) announced today the recipients of its annual Texas Rain Catcher Award, a rainwater harvesting competition and recognition program. The award recipients have displayed excellence in rainwater harvesting in Texas in five categories: commercial/industry; educational/governmental-civic; educational/governmental-school; residential-community; and residential-single family.

The 2017 Texas Rain Catcher Award winners are:

BAE Systems for the installation of a rainwater harvesting system at its 140-acre campus in Austin
The George Mills Memorial Rain Garden at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Service Center in Alpine
Sycamore Springs Elementary/Middle School in Dripping Springs for its three-component rainwater harvesting project
Las Pampas for its rainwater harvesting demonstration project
The Hennigan residence in San Antonio for its sustainable living demonstration remodel

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
