Texas Water Development Board announces the 2017 Texas Rain Catcher Award recipients

AUSTIN – (March 21, 2018) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) announced today the recipients of its annual Texas Rain Catcher Award, a rainwater harvesting competition and recognition program. The award recipients have displayed excellence in rainwater harvesting in Texas in five categories: commercial/industry; educational/governmental-civic; educational/governmental-school; residential-community; and residential-single family.

The 2017 Texas Rain Catcher Award winners are:

  • BAE Systems for the installation of a rainwater harvesting system at its 140-acre campus in Austin
  • The George Mills Memorial Rain Garden at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Service Center in Alpine
  • Sycamore Springs Elementary/Middle School in Dripping Springs for its three-component rainwater harvesting project
  • Las Pampas for its rainwater harvesting demonstration project
  • The Hennigan residence in San Antonio for its sustainable living demonstration remodel

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
