Texas Water Development Board approves $5,425,000 to the Laguna Madre Water District (Cameron County) for a wastewater system project

AUSTIN – (September 20, 2018) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $5,425,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the Laguna Madre Water District (Cameron County). The District will use the assistance to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with a multi-phase wastewater system improvement project.

The District could save approximately $994,000 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

The assistance approved today will allow the District to begin phase 2 of a multi-phase wastewater system improvement project. The TWDB previously committed $5,815,000 for the first phase of the project, which is nearly complete.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
