Texas Water Development Board approves $991,000 to the City of Bridge City (Orange County) for Hurricane Harvey recovery projects

AUSTIN – (November 12, 2018) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $991,000, consisting of $491,000 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) and $500,000 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) to the City of Bridge City (Orange County). The City will use the assistance to finance Hurricane Harvey recovery projects.

The $491,000 provided by the CWSRF will allow the City to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with removing and replacing 42 manholes in its wastewater system. The improvements are necessary due to excessive rainfall during Hurricane Harvey that impacted the system.

With the $500,000 from the DWSRF, the City will be able to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with improvements to its water system.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
