Texas Water Development Board approves $2.5 million to the City of Shallowater (Lubbock County) for water and wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (December 13, 2018) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $2.5 million, consisting of a $1.1 million loan and $500,000 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and a $900,000 loan from the Texas Water Development Fund, to the City of Shallowater (Lubbock County). The financial assistance will allow for the construction of water and wastewater system improvements.

The City could save approximately $826,000 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and the Texas Water Development Fund.

With the assistance provided today, the City will be able to complete construction to its existing water treatment plant.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
