Texas Water Development Board approves $500,000 to the City of Nome (Jefferson County) for a Hurricane Harvey disaster recovery project

AUSTIN  (January 22, 2019)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $500,000 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Nome (Jefferson County). The City will use the assistance to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with a Hurricane Harvey disaster recovery project.

The District's wastewater treatment plant was damaged during Hurricane Harvey. With the assistance provided today, the District will restore the plant to pre-storm conditions.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
