Texas Water Development Board approves $600,000 in agricultural water conservation grants

AUSTIN – (April 10, 2019) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved $600,000 in grants through the TWDB's Agricultural Water Conservation Grants Program. The program offers grant funding to state agencies and political subdivisions for activities that further water conservation in the state.

The grant recipients are the Cameron County Irrigation District No. 6, the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District No. 1, the Lake Proctor Irrigation Authority, the El Paso County Water Improvement District No. 1, and the Mesquite Groundwater Conservation District.

These grants will implement irrigation efficiency and system improvement projects through equipment cost share funding. A request for applications was published in the Texas Register on October 26, 2018, with a submission deadline of January 16, 2019.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources.
