Texas Water Development Board approves $4,060,000 to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 148 (Harris County) for wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN  (May 9, 2019)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of a $4,060,000 loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 148 (Harris County).

The District will use the assistance to finance construction costs associated with wastewater system improvements.

The District could save approximately $1 million by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.With the assistance approved today, the District will expand its existing 0.55-million-gallon-per-day treatment plant to a 0.95-million-gallon-per-day treatment plant. The increased capacity will help the District meet growing water demands in the service area.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
