Texas Water Development Board approves $45,765,000 to the Ector County Utility District (Ector County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN  (July 22, 2019)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of a $45,765,000 loan from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the Ector County Utility District (Ector County). The District will use the assistance to finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with water system improvements.

The District could save approximately $10.2 million by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the District will make improvements to add 2.5 million gallons of elevated water storage, 4 million gallons of ground storage, approximately 11 million gallons per day of pumping capacity, and approximately 14.5 miles of pipeline. The improvements are intended to help increase the water system's reliability.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
