Texas Water Development Board approves $865,000 to the Cameron County Irrigation District No. 6 (Cameron County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN  (September 5, 2019)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $865,000 from the Texas Water Development Fund to the Cameron County Irrigation District No. 6 (Cameron County). The District will use the assistance to finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with improvements to its raw water delivery system.

With the assistance approved today, the District will make improvements to its main canal. The District estimates that the proposed project will increase capacity and meet its full water demands.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
