AUSTIN – (March 12, 2020) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $1,226,880, consisting of a $620,000 zero-percent loan and $606,880 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, to the Horizon Regional Municipal Utility District (El Paso County). The District will use the assistance to finance planning and design costs associated with a wastewater system improvement project.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the District could save approximately $118,000 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the District plans to integrate the Horizon View Community into its wastewater collection system. The Community already receives water service from the District. The project also includes the installation of a lift station and a wastewater collection system within the Community.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
