Texas Water Development Board approves $11,805,000 to the City of San Antonio (Bexar County) acting by and through the San Antonio Water System for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (May 21, 2020) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of an $11,805,000 loan from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of San Antonio (Bexar County) acting by and through the San Antonio Water System. The City will use the assistance for construction costs associated with water system improvements.
The City could save approximately $3.1 million over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
With the financial assistance approved today, the System will construct an elevated storage tank and add water lines to integrate two pressure zones for improved water service reliability in the project area.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
