AUSTIN – (September 3, 2020) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $901,323, consisting of a $100,000 loan and $801,323 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, to the City of Gordon (Palo Pinto County). The City will use the assistance to finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with water system improvements.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $26,000 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the City will replace approximately 1 mile of water distribution lines and replace manual-read water meters with radio-read meters in addition to other improvements at its water treatment plant. These enhancements will reduce water loss, improve meter accuracy, better track water usage, and reduce costs.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
