Texas Water Development Board approves $40,000,000 to the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (Comal and Guadalupe counties) for improvements to the Lake Dunlap dam

AUSTIN – (December 3, 2020) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of a $40,000,000 loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (Comal and Guadalupe counties). The Authority will use the assistance to finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with improvements to the Lake Dunlap dam.

The Authority could save approximately $15,000,000 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the Authority will replace spill gates at the Lake Dunlap dam. Replacement of the gates will include structural modifications to the existing spillway structure, upgrades to the mechanical system and electrical power, improved backup power, new instrumentation and controls, and other updates.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
