AUSTIN – (January 14, 2021) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of a $75,000,000 loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Pearland (Brazoria County). The City will use the assistance to finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with a wastewater treatment plant expansion project.

The City could save approximately $12,800,000 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the City will expand the John Hargrove Water Reclamation Facility from 4 million gallons per day to 6 million gallons per day. It will also direct a portion of flows from the Southdown and Longwood water reclamation facilities to the John Hargrove facility.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
