Texas Water Development Board approves $2,630,000 to the City of Rusk (Cherokee County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (January 28, 2021) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of a $2,630,000 loan from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Rusk (Cherokee County). The City will use the assistance to finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with water system improvements.

The City could save approximately $471,000 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the City will rehabilitate five storage tanks in its water distribution system.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
