Texas Water Development Board today approved financial assistance totaling $10,625,422 for flood projects

AUSTIN – (May 20, 2021) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved financial assistance totaling $10,625,422 for flood projects.

  • $6,167,500 for watershed flood protection planning studies
  • $1,417,922 to the City of Palm Valley (Cameron County) for a flood management project
  • $3,040,000 to the City of Weslaco (Hidalgo County) for a drainage improvement and detention pond project

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
