Texas Water Development Board approves $43,455,000 to the Wellborn Special Utility District (Brazos and Robertson counties) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (November 19, 2021) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $43,455,000 from the Texas Water Development Fund to the Wellborn Special Utility District (Brazos and Robertson counties). The District will use the assistance to finance planning, acquisition, design, and construction costs associated with water system improvements.

The financial assistance approved today will enable the District to provide additional water supply and infrastructure that will accommodate projected growth. Project components include a new groundwater supply wellfield, water treatment system, storage facilities, transmission pumps, and supply and transmission lines. In addition, the District will make improvements to distribution lines throughout its system.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
