Texas Water Development Board approves $6,925,000 to the Meeker Municipal Water District (Jefferson County) for a water system improvement project

AUSTIN – (December 16, 2021) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $6,925,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the Meeker Municipal Water District (Jefferson County). The District will use the assistance for planning, acquisition, design, and construction of a water system improvement project.

The District could save approximately $1,600,000 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

With the financial assistance approved today, the District will purchase a new well site, drill a new groundwater well, and construct new production facilities to meet growing water supply demands.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
