Texas Water Development Board approves $1,488,000 to the City of Marble Falls (Burnet County) for wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (October 5, 2022) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $1,488,000 to the City of Marble Falls (Burnet County), consisting of $995,000 in financing and $493,000 in principal forgiveness, from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). The City will use the assistance to finance the planning and design of wastewater system improvements.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $630,000 over the life of the loan by using the CWSRF.

With the financial assistance approved today, the City will fund the planning and design for the addition of direct potable reuse as an effluent management strategy. The City plans to evaluate the development of the overall treatment concept and direction, including the source water characterization, filtration, disinfection, stabilization, and storage options.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
