AUSTIN – (November 17, 2022) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $300,000 in principal forgiveness to the City of Rising Star (Eastland County) from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. The City will use the assistance for the planning, design, and construction of a water system improvement project.

With the financial assistance approved today, the City will replace a portion of its existing water distribution system, targeting the sections of pipelines most prone to leaks. The improvements will help the City mitigate water loss and reduce future maintenance costs attributed to deteriorated water lines.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
