Texas Water Development Board approves $7,027,667 to the City of Daingerfield (Morris County) for water and wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (March 3, 2022) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $7,027,667 to the City of Daingerfield (Morris County), including

  • $3,332,157 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF), consisting of a $1,685,000 loan and $1,647,157 in loan forgiveness, and
  • $3,695,510 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), consisting of a $1,865,000 loan and $1,830,510 in loan forgiveness.

The City will use the assistance to finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with water and wastewater system improvement projects.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $2 million over the life of the loans by using the DWSRF and CWSRF programs.

With the $3,332,157 from the DWSRF, the City will replace aging, undersized waterlines with PVC pipe and construct a new 200,000-gallon elevated storage tank at the site of the existing tank. The project includes sitework, a pressure tank, yard piping, valves, asset management planning, and a raw water pump station.

With the $3,695,510 provided by the CWSRF, the City will replace sections of sanitary sewer lines in need of repair. The lift station will be rehabilitated with a new pump and electrical upgrades. The project proposes to upsize piping, rehabilitate the aeration basin, and make mechanical recommendations in the planning phase to improve simultaneous operations at the wastewater treatment plant.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
