Texas Water Development Board approves $6,500,000 to the City of Shenandoah (Montgomery County) for wastewater treatment plant improvements

AUSTIN – (March 3, 2022) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $6,500,000 in financing from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Shenandoah (Montgomery County). The City will use the assistance to finance the planning, design, and construction of wastewater treatment plant improvements.

The City could save approximately $800,000 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

With the financial assistance approved today, the City will update its wastewater treatment plant through the construction, conversion, and replacement of treatment units, as well as electrical upgrades and site improvements.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
