AUSTIN – (July 7, 2022) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $1,650,000 to the Riverside Special Utility District (Walker County), consisting of $1,575,000 in financing and $75,000 in loan forgiveness, from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF). The District will use the assistance to finance the planning, design, and construction of water system improvements.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the District could save approximately $117,000 over the life of the loan by using the DWSRF.

With the assistance approved today, the District will drill a new water well to supply an additional 500 gallons of groundwater per minute to fulfill demand. It will also replace sections of the distribution system to reduce water loss.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
