AUSTIN – (April 6, 2023) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $13,415,000 to the City of San Angelo (Tom Green County) from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF). The City will use the assistance for the construction of a water supply and treatment project.

The City could save approximately $3,100,000 over the life of the loan by using the DWSRF.

In October 2019, the City received a commitment from the DWSRF to finance the planning, design, and construction of the Hickory Aquifer Wellfield Phase II improvements, and construction began in April 2022. Due to unforeseen increases in construction costs, the City will use the additional funding approved today for the construction of Phase II development, which includes improvements to the City’s wellfield, raw water collection system, transmission line, and groundwater treatment plant.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
