AUSTIN – (May 4, 2023) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $6,170,000 to the Orange County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (Orange County) from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) including

  • $5,260,000 for the planning, acquisition, design, and construction of a water system improvement project, and
  • $910,000, consisting of $410,000 in financing and $500,000 in principal forgiveness, for the planning, design, and construction of a separate water system improvement project.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the District could save approximately $866,000 over the life of the loans by using the DWSRF.

With the assistance approved today, the District will construct a new water well site including storage, pumping, and treatment facilities to provide water to the District and to act as a redundant water source. Additionally, the District will construct a liquid ammonium sulfate system and related infrastructure at each of the District’s existing three water well sites.
