AUSTIN – (June 6, 2023) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $28,930,096 to El Paso Water acting on behalf of the City of El Paso (El Paso County), consisting of $8,680,000 in financing and $20,250,096 in grant funding from the Economically Distressed Areas Program (EDAP). El Paso Water will use the financial assistance for the planning, design, and construction of a wastewater collection system project.

In addition to the grant funding, El Paso Water could save approximately $130,000 over the life of the loan by using EDAP.

El Paso Water previously received EDAP commitments for the planning, design, and construction of a three-phased project to provide first-time wastewater service to the Montana Vista community. With the financial assistance approved today, El Paso Water will construct wastewater collection services for 775 households, and decommission the existing septic systems, as part of Phase II of the ongoing project.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
