Texas Water Development Board approves $681,000 to the City of Garrison (Nacogdoches County) for a wastewater treatment plant replacement project

HARLINGEN – (September 14, 2023) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $681,000 in principal forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) to the City of Garrison (Nacogdoches County). The City will use the assistance for the planning, acquisition, and design of a wastewater treatment plant replacement project.

With the assistance approved today, the City will complete the planning, land acquisition, and design of a new oxidation ditch treatment plant, plant lift station, testing laboratory, and decommissioning of the existing plant. The proposed wastewater treatment plant will increase capacity to 0.24 million gallons per day to provide reliable and effective treatment of wastewater for the City.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
