HARLINGEN – (September 14, 2023) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $10,675,000 to the City of Magnolia (Montgomery County), consisting of $9,675,000 in financing and $1,000,000 in principal forgiveness, from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). The City will use the assistance for the planning, design, and construction of a wastewater treatment plant expansion project.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $3,200,000 over the life of the loan by using the CWSRF.

The expansion includes a new treatment unit, mechanical screening, expansion of the chlorine contact tank, new blowers, modification to the influent splitter structure, and a new retention pond.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans.
