AUSTIN – (October 17, 2024) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $7,737,207 to the South Texas Water Authority (Kleberg County), consisting of $2,360,000 in financing and $5,377,207 in principal forgiveness, from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF). The Authority will use the assistance for the planning, design, and construction of a water system improvement project.
The Authority provides water services to multiple water systems in the surrounding counties as a wholesale water provider, including the Ricardo Water Supply Corporation (RWSC) and the Nueces Water Supply Corporation (NWSC).
In addition to the loan forgiveness, the RWSC could save approximately $572,000 over the life of the loan, and the NWSC could save approximately $330,000 over the life of the loan by using the DWSRF.
With the assistance approved today, the Authority will construct improvements to five pump stations within the RWSC and the NWSC service areas. The Authority will also make additional improvements including electrical upgrades to the supervisory control and data acquisition system, replacement of an emergency backup generator, replacement and repair of miscellaneous piping and pump, and more.
