AUSTIN – (December 17, 2024) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved financial assistance in the amount of $45,350,700 from the Flood Infrastructure Fund (FIF) and the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) to the City of Marble Falls (Burnet County) for the construction of a wastewater system improvement project including

  • $25,606,200 in financial assistance, consisting of $14,340,000 in financing and $11,266,200 in grant funds, from the FIF, and
  • $19,744,500 in financial assistance, consisting of $12,930,000 in financing and $6,814,500 in principal forgiveness, from the CWSRF.

In addition to the grant funding and principal forgiveness, the City could save approximately $9,100,000 over the life of the loans by using the FIF, and $4,900,000 by using the CWSRF.

In 2021, the City received funding from the FIF for a project to fully relocate the existing wastewater treatment plant out of the floodplain and decommission and restore the existing site. The City requested additional funding from the FIF for the initial phase of the project. With financial assistance from the CWSRF, the City will expand the capacity of the initial phase to 3 million gallons per day.

Passed by the 86th Texas Legislature and approved by voters through a constitutional amendment in 2019, the FIF was created to provide funding for drainage, flood mitigation, and flood control projects.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
