Texas Water Development Board approves $10,400,000 to the Cypress Forest Public Utility District (Harris County) for a sanitary sewer rehabilitation project

LUBBOCK – (April 11, 2024) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $10,400,000 to the Cypress Forest Public Utility District (Harris County) from the Texas Water Development Fund. The District will use the assistance for the planning, design, and construction of a sanitary sewer rehabilitation project.

The District could save approximately $825,000 over the life of the loan by using the Texas Water Development Fund.

The District will use the financial assistance approved today to rehabilitate aging sanitary sewer collection lines. Starting in the neighborhood’s older sections and progressing to the newer ones, the District completed sections one through three with local funds and plans to continue the rehabilitation of sections four through ten using TWDB funding.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
