Texas Water Development Board approves $5,550,000 to the Harris County Water Control and Improvement District No. 91 (Harris County) for water system improvements

LUBBOCK – (April 11, 2024) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $5,550,000 to the Harris County Water Control and Improvement District No. 91 (Harris County) from the Texas Water Development Fund. The District will use the assistance for the planning, design, and construction of water system improvements.

The District could save approximately $1,100,000 over the life of the loan by using the Texas Water Development Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the District will replace over 15,000 linear feet of original waterlines along several streets to reduce water loss and ensure serviceability.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
