AUSTIN – (May 9, 2024) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount $11,561,224 to the City of Devine (Medina County), consisting of $5,665,000 in financing and $5,896,224 in principal forgiveness, from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Lead Service Line Replacement Program. The City will use the assistance for the planning, design, and construction of a lead service line replacement project.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $1,700,000 over the life of the loan by using the DWSRF.

With the assistance approved today, the City will prepare a geographic information system database of existing water services, complete an initial lead service line inventory, and replace an estimated 1,700 lead service line connections from the water main to the right-of-way. The City will also replace approximately 2,079 lead service line connections from the right-of-way to the residence.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
