Texas Water Development Board approves $2,500,000 to the Brazosport Water Supply Corporation (Brazoria County) for a reservoir expansion project

AUSTIN – (June 12, 2024) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $2,500,000 to the Brazosport Water Supply Corporation (Brazoria County) from the Texas Water Development Fund. The Corporation will use the assistance to finance the planning of a reservoir expansion project.
The Corporation could save approximately $111,000 over the life of the loan by using the Texas Water Development Fund.
With the assistance approved today, the Corporation will complete pre-construction planning work for the Harris Expansion Project, which will provide additional water storage capacity by constructing an off-channel reservoir and associated infrastructure, located immediately north of the existing Harris Reservoir site in Brazoria County.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
