Texas Water Development Board approves $4,966,000 to the Angelina and Neches River Authority (Angelina County) for a water system project

MCKINNEY, TEXAS – (September 12, 2024) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $4,966,000 in grant funding to the Angelina and Neches River Authority (Angelina County) from the Rural Water Assistance Fund. The Authority will use the assistance for the planning, acquisition, design, and construction of a water system project.
With the assistance approved today, the Authority will make improvements to the Central Heights Water System’s raw water pump station, water treatment plant, and distribution system. Improvements include a 100,000-gallon storage tank, an 8,000-gallon pressure storage tank, and 19,000 linear feet of water line construction and replacement.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
