Texas Water Development Board approves $1,895,000 to the New Ulm Water Supply Corporation (Austin County) for a wastewater treatment plant replacement project

MCKINNEY, TEXAS – (September 12, 2024) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount $1,895,000 to the New Ulm Water Supply Corporation (Austin County), consisting of $495,000 in financing and $1,400,000 in principal forgiveness, from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). The Corporation will use the assistance for the design and construction of a wastewater treatment plant replacement project.
In addition to the loan forgiveness, the Corporation could save approximately $212,000 over the life of the loan by using the CWSRF.
With the assistance approved today, the Corporation will replace the existing wastewater treatment plant with an in-ground cast-in-place concrete wastewater treatment plant. The new wastewater treatment plant will consist of a concrete aeration basin, concrete clarifier, concrete chlorination basin, and concrete digester.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
