Texas Water Development Board approves $1,204,082 to the City of Del Rio (Val Verde County) for a water system improvement project

AUSTIN – (August 21, 2025) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $1,204,082 in financial assistance, consisting of $590,000 in financing and $614,082 in principal forgiveness, to the City of Del Rio (Val Verde County) from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Lead Service Replacement Program for the planning of a water system improvement project.

With the financial assistance approved today, the city will complete an inventory of its water distribution system, which includes 8,809 connections, to identify any water service lines that may include lead or galvanized materials.

The city could save approximately $199,215 over the life of the financing and $614,082 in principal forgiveness.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
