Texas Water Development Board approves $11,905,000 to the Military Highway Water Supply Corporation (Cameron County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (August 21, 2025) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $11,905,000, consisting of $5,955,000 in financing and $5,950,000 in grant funding, to the Military Highway Water Supply Corporation (Cameron County) from the Economically Distressed Areas Program (EDAP) for a water improvements project.

With the EDAP financial assistance approved today, the corporation will replace more than 30,000 linear feet of water lines, install gate valves, fire hydrants, and water meters, and acquire an easement for future maintenance and repair work.

The corporation could save approximately $855,630 over the life of the financing and $5,950,000 in grant funding.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
