Texas Water Development Board approves $361,720 to Cameron County Drainage District No. 5 (Cameron County) for a flood mitigation strategy project

AUSTIN – (December 16, 2025) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $361,720 to the Cameron County Drainage District No. 5 (Cameron County), consisting of $361,720 in grant funding from the Flood Infrastructure Fund (FIF). The District will use the assistance for a flood mitigation strategy project.
With the assistance approved today, the District will perform an internal drainage analysis for the final certification of six levees managed by the International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC).
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
