Texas Water Development Board approves $1,040,000 to the City of Benjamin (Knox County) for water system improvement projects

AUSTIN – (March 13, 2025) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $1,040,000 to the City of Benjamin (Knox County) from the Rural Water Assistance Fund (RWAF) and the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) including

  • $400,000 in grant funding from the RWAF for the planning, design, and construction of water system improvements, and
  • $640,000 in principal forgiveness from the DWSRF for the planning, design, and construction of a water system project.

With the assistance approved today, the City will reduce water loss by replacing 2,500 linear feet of water lines and installing 192 automated meters and six fire hydrants. The City will also replace a ground storage tank and pump station.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
