AUSTIN – (March 13, 2025) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $15,525,592 to the City of Weatherford (Parker County) from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Lead Service Line Replacement Program and the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) Emerging Contaminants Program including:

  • $14,979,592 in financial assistance, consisting of $7,340,000 in financing and $7,639,592 in principal forgiveness, from the DWSRF Lead Service Line Replacement Program for the planning, design, and construction of a water system project, and
  • $546,000 in principal forgiveness from the CWSRF Emerging Contaminants Program for the planning of a wastewater system improvements project.

In addition to the principal forgiveness, the City could save approximately $2,510,000 over the life of the loan by using the DWSRF.

With the assistance approved today, the City will be reimbursed for the costs of completing a lead service line inventory of its distribution system and will replace approximately 2,500 lead service lines, requiring an estimated 250,000 linear feet of new service lines. The City will also begin monitoring its treated effluent, biosolids, and industrial pretreatment for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoralkyl substances (PFAS) before regulations are determined to begin the planning and eventual treatment of the effluent or drinking water.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
