AUSTIN – (March 13, 2025) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $5,620,000 to the City of Weimar (Colorado County), consisting of $565,000 in financing and $5,055,000 in grant funding, from the Rural Water Assistance Fund (RWAF). The City will use the assistance for the planning, design, acquisition, and construction of a water system improvement project.

In addition to the grant funding, the City could save approximately $165,000 over the life of the loan by using the RWAF.

With the assistance approved today, the City will construct a 350-gallon-per-minute water well and replace its Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. The City will also replace 4,800 linear feet of water lines and 1,000 manual meters with automated meters to address its apparent water loss.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
