Texas Water Development Board approves $914,000 to the English Acres Water System (Jim Wells County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (May 8, 2025) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $914,000 in principal forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the English Acres Water System (Jim Wells County). The System will use the assistance for the planning, design, and construction of a water system improvements project.
With the assistance approved today, the System will make infrastructure upgrades and improve operational standards. The System will first construct an emergency interconnect with the City of Alice to provide an alternate water source. The System will then upgrade the existing distribution system and service connections, install water meters and a new disinfection system, replace a storage tank, and develop a monitoring plan, operation and maintenance manual, and drought contingency plan.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
