Texas Water Development Board approves $5,787,618 to the City of Los Fresnos (Cameron County) for wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (May 8, 2025) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $5,787,618 to the City of Los Fresnos (Cameron County), consisting of $1,705,000 in financing and $4,082,618 in principal forgiveness, from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). The City will use the assistance for the construction of a wastewater system improvements project.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $2,600,000 over the life of the loan by using the CWSRF.

With the assistance approved today, the City will make improvements to its wastewater collection system. The City will replace approximately 21,920 linear feet of sanitary sewer lines, rehabilitate or replace approximately 40 manholes and install 2 new manholes, and reconnect service lines to the newly replaced sanitary sewer lines.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
