Texas Water Development Board approves $3,300,000 to the South Plains Water Supply Corporation (Lubbock County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (February 19, 2026) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $3,300,000 in grant funding to the South Plains Water Supply Corporation (Lubbock County), from the Rural Water Assistance Fund. The Corporation will use the assistance for the planning, acquisition, design, and construction of a water system improvements project.

With the assistance approved today, the Corporation proposes the planning, acquisition, design, and construction of wellhead replacements, electrical upgrades, water meter replacements, ground storage and pressure tank replacements, service pump replacements, and distribution system improvements across all four system sites.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
