Texas Water Development Board approves $3,500,000 to the Dean Water Supply Corporation (Smith County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (March 31, 2026) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $3,500,000 from the Texas Water Development Fund (DFund) to the Dean Water Supply Corporation (Smith County). The Corporation will use the assistance for the planning, design, and construction of a water system project.
The Corporation could save approximately $343,000 over the life of the loan by using the DFund.
With the assistance approved today, the Corporation will plan, design, and construct a new water well at the existing site and connect the well to the existing water system.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
