Texas Water Development Board approves $2,850,000 to the South Rains Special Utility District (Rains County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (March 31, 2026) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $2,850,000 from the Texas Water Development Fund (DFund) to the South Rains Special Utility District (Rains County). The District will use the assistance for the planning, design, and construction of a water system improvement project.

The District could save approximately $154,000 over the life of the loan by using the DFund.

With the assistance approved today, the District will construct a new 80,000-gallon ground storage tank, a new pump station to facilitate the additional storage capacity, two 2,200-gallon pressure tanks, two 220-gallon-per-minute service pumps, and a generator.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
